We currently have three apps: Ultimate Hockey DJ for ice hockey, Ultimate Dugout DJ for baseball and softball, and Ultimate Basketball DJ for basketball (coming soon). Each app is designed with sport-specific events—like goal songs for hockey, walkup music for baseball, and starting lineup intros for basketball—so the experience is tailored to your game.
All three apps share the same powerful music engine, but each is built for a specific sport. Hockey DJ has events like Goal Home, Power Play, Penalty Kill, and Intermission. Dugout DJ has events like Walkup Music, Rally, Strikeout, and 7th Inning Stretch. Basketball DJ, launching soon, has events like Starting Lineup, Three Pointer, Dunk, and Timeout. The interface, icons, and workflows are all optimized for each sport's game flow.
Yes! Ultimate Hockey DJ and Ultimate Dugout DJ are both free to download and use, and Ultimate Basketball DJ will be free when it launches. The free version includes the app's built-in events, shuffle playback, and up to 10 songs. An optional Pro upgrade unlocks unlimited songs, custom events, all playback modes, and setlists. Pro is available as a Season Pass subscription, and Ultimate Hockey DJ also offers a one-time Lifetime purchase.
Our apps require iOS 17 or later and run on iPhone and iPad. Your events, songs, and settings sync across all your devices via iCloud, so you can set up on one device and play from another.
Absolutely. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising, and we use only anonymous, aggregate analytics to improve the apps. Your music configurations are stored locally on your device and synced privately via iCloud. Read our full privacy policy for details.
No. Apple Music integration gives you access to millions of songs, but it's completely optional. You can import your own local audio files (MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, AIFF) and use the apps without any subscription at all. Note that the curated setlist feature does require Apple Music.
Not currently. Ultimate Sports DJ is built around deep Apple Music integration—instant search, direct catalog access, playlist imports, and gapless playback—all happening natively inside the app. Spotify's platform doesn't offer the same level of third-party integration, which would mean a slower, less reliable experience on game day. We'd rather do one integration really well than offer two that feel half-baked. You can always import your own audio files (MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, AIFF) regardless of which streaming service you use.
Yes. You can import your own local audio files (MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, AIFF) and use any of the apps completely without Apple Music or any subscription. Local files also always work offline.
Yes. Local audio files and any previously generated AI announcements always work without an internet connection. Apple Music songs need to be downloaded ahead of time. Pro tip: export your current setup to an Apple Music playlist with one tap, then set that playlist to download automatically—all your game day songs, ready to go, no wifi required.
Shuffle plays a random song from an event's pool each time you tap. It tracks which songs have already played during the current game session and won't repeat one until every song in that pool has been played, then the cycle resets. This gives you variety throughout the game without repeats.
Three modes: Shuffle plays a random song each time, In Order plays songs top-to-bottom in sequence, and Pick lets you manually choose which song to play. You can set a different mode for each event. In Order and Pick are part of Pro; Shuffle is available for free.
For hockey goal songs we recommend 15-30 seconds, starting at the most exciting part (usually the chorus). For walk-up and lineup intro songs, start at the exact hook the player wants to hear. For intermission or warm-up music, longer clips or full songs work great, and sound effects should be short and punchy.
In Ultimate Dugout DJ and Ultimate Basketball DJ, each intro has three phases: a number announcement (batting number or jersey number), an AI-generated name call, and the player's walk-up or intro song. You can toggle each phase on or off for every player. The sequence plays with a single tap and auto-advances to the next player. Ultimate Hockey DJ is event-based rather than roster-based, so it doesn't use player announcements.
You can enter a phonetic spelling for any player (for example, “Nguyen” becomes “Win”). The AI announcer uses the phonetic version to generate a natural-sounding name call.
Pro unlocks unlimited songs (free is capped at 10), custom events beyond the built-in ones, all playback modes (In Order and Pick in addition to Shuffle), and Setlists. In Dugout DJ and Basketball DJ, Pro also adds up to 3 teams and AI announcements.
A Setlist is your complete game day music configuration saved and ready to go. It captures every song assigned to every event, so you can reload your perfect setup instantly or switch between different themes with a single tap. Browse curated setlists like Classic Hip Hop, Dad Rock, or Hype Anthems, or save your own winning configurations for each team or tournament.
Yes, curated setlists use songs from the Apple Music catalog and require an active Apple Music subscription for playback. You can browse and load the setlists without a subscription, but you'll need Apple Music to actually play the songs. Your own saved setlists can include local files, which don't require any subscription.
Curated setlists are a starting point, not a straitjacket—after loading one you can add songs, remove tracks you don't like, swap events around, and save it as your own. When you load a setlist you choose how it applies: Add to Existing merges the setlist songs with your current setup, while Replace All clears your current events and loads the setlist fresh. Either way, the app prompts you to save your current setup first, so you never lose your work.
Pro users can manage up to 3 teams in Ultimate Dugout DJ and Ultimate Basketball DJ, each with their own roster, batting order or starting lineup, announcer voice, and songs. Switch between teams instantly. Ultimate Hockey DJ is event-based and isn't organized around teams or rosters.
Two options: a Season Pass is a 6-month subscription, perfect if you want to try Pro for a season, or Lifetime is a one-time purchase that gives you permanent access to all Pro features forever with no recurring charges. Both options unlock the same features.
Our apps use Apple's subscription system. Manage or cancel your Season Pass anytime in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your device. A Lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and never renews.
